Historic Granville Neighborhood
Milwaukee…
a city of neighborhoods….
thriving and growing… |

|
Hi, I’m Michael Cudahy and I had
the good fortune of living and working in a neighborhood that I’m
proud of.
The early rustic, rural beginnings of Granville created a past
for me of wonderful memories;
the present experience is unfolding;
the promise of the future is unknown to all of us but to be a part
of it is exciting to behold
and many possibilities realized through the Historic Granville Corporation
.
|
Hi, I’m Jawana Henry. My family is benefiting
from the Historic Granville Corporation.
Along with Mike Cudahy, we’d like to tell you a little more
about our neighborhood.
Any solid, grounded and healthy neighborhood needs at least ten
elements. So fasten your seat belts and get ready because we’re
not stopping…

|
With borders ranging from 68th Street to the east;
124th Street to the west; County Line Road to the north and Mill Road
to the south; Historic Granville represents fourteen square miles
of diverse retail. |
Education is important to everyone. As a grandmother,
I think about my family’s education often. That’s why
it’s one of the ten elements to a neighborhood.
Historic Granville has many wonderful primary, secondary;
public and private schools as well as a large public library. |
|
|
“Open space.” 20% of Historic Granville
is “green.” Space to breathe, reflect and regenerate
yourself is the second element important to us in Historic Granville.
And, related to “Open space,” comes
our next element, “Recreation.” Public parks, golf courses,
swimming pools are present throughout the neighborhoods. |
“Diverse population” is number three
and represents both the present and the promise of Historic Granville.
Including white and blacks are Hispanic, Slovic, Southeast asian
and other cultures.
There are 15 neighborhoods in Historic Granville.
“Diverse housing” is another important
consideration in a thriving neighborhood. Homes range in price from
$50,000 to $250,000.00.
Additionally, a diverse population graces Historic
Granville celebrating the best of Milwaukee and providing good employment
opportunities for everyone. |
|
|
Three “Light Industrial” Parks mix
office and commercial interest. They are prospering presently and
more promised in Historic Granville.
Elements taken for granted yet plentiful are celebrated
in the fifth element: churches and places of worship.
- Rooted…..
- Inspiring….
- Challenging….
- Fulfilling….
There are numerous places of worship in “Historic
Granville” with other faith traditions on its way.
- The Neighborhood List continues with Healthcare.
- Alexian Village of Milwaukee
- Friendship Village "Aurora Healtcare"
- Luther Village
- Covenant Healthcare
- Advance Healthcare
- Falls Medical Group
|
| Rounding out the Top Ten list is “Good Roadway
Access.” Three major roadways: 181, 145 and 100 provide easy
access. |
|
|
Oh wait, we made a mistake…there’s
not ten elements to a good neighborhood. We forget the most important
one….
The “Historic Granville Corporation”
that teams up business leaders to support and encourage northwest
Milwaukee growth.
AVM, YMCA, The Woodlands, Friendship Village, Risen Savior Lutheran
Church, Trucker Development, Northridge Estates Homeowners Corporation,
meet regularly to solidify this new neighborhood with an old name.
An old neighborhood with a new name….or is
it a new name for an old neighborhood.
The Past, Promise, Possibilities, Participate
in the Historic Granville Neighborhood. |
