HISTORIC GRANVILLE CORPORATION RECEIVES
$20,000 GRANT FROM MILWAUKEE COUNTY

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker today announced that the Historic Granville Corporation (HGC), a community-based organization dedicated to improving the quality of life and prosperity of residents living on Milwaukee’s far northwest side, has been awarded a $20,000 grant from Milwaukee County. In a ceremony held at the Alexian Brothers Pavilion, County Executive Walker added his signature to the funding document amid the support of HGC members, Historic Granville residents and business owners.
“I want to applaud the Historic Granville Corporation for all it has achieved in a short amount of time,” said County Executive Walker. “I’m proud of the positive news I’m presenting today on behalf of Milwaukee County and believe this is just one more step in the right direction for Historic Granville. This is an exciting time for this community and the county is happy to play its part in that success, and encourage everyone to continue their efforts.”
The grant will be used by the HGC to help in job creation and stimulating more economic growth in the area. Milwaukee County Supervisor Rob McDonald, who represents the District but could not attend the event, was praised by the HGC along with County Executive Walker for their efforts to respond to the community’s funding needs.
“The Historic Granville Corporation has been working hard to improve resources and economic opportunities in our area,” said Gary Mohn, CEO of Alexian Village and HGC board member. “We’re proud of our neighborhoods, businesses and the feeling of community that is growing in this area. This grant, presented to us today by County Executive Walker on behalf of Milwaukee County, will only help us to continue our redevelopment efforts, and we truly appreciate the county’s recognition and support.”
After signing the grant papers, County Executive Walker met with residents, business leaders and others who were present for the ceremony.
The Historic Granville Corporation (HGC) is a group of businesses and residents dedicated to advocating for and implementing changes to improve the quality of life and prosperity of residents living on Milwaukee’s northwest side. Historic Granville is a Milwaukee County community bordered by County Line Road to the north, Mill Road to the south, 124th Street to the west and 68th Street to the east.
